RESCheck Services

RESCheck services is a development by the US Department of Energy. This software program verifies that new commercial buildings and residential homes meet the energy efficiency requirements of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). As a part of the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC), RESCheck in Maine is mandatory for new construction.

Blower Door Concepts, we offer building energy compliance testing, so you can ensure your new home or office building is compliant with the IECC code. With knowledge and experience in this industry, you will receive the utmost professional services.

How Does RESCheck Work?

The RESCheck compliance report you receive from us uses calculated trade-offs to comply with different IECC codes. For example, if you do not meet the energy code in one area of the new construction, you can compensate for it by exceeding the energy code in other areas. Therefore, you could fail one area of the report but still pass by making up for it in another.

What Systems Are Involved With the Service?

The code in our RESCheck services takes all systems into account. However, the report can only make trade-offs with the exterior barrier, such as insulation levels and windows/doors. A common reason home builders choose to do a RESCheck is to exclude costly foam board insulation and save more money than the RESCheck originally cost.

How Do You Pass?

The U-value and the area of the home are the basis for the RESCheck calculation. Your home’s exterior must be below a specific sum to pass the report. If the U-value sum is higher than it should be, you must reduce it by finding other ways to meet compliance with the IECC code. Our technicians would be happy to go over this with you during your scheduled service.
